The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 mandates that commercial facilities must be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities.

Facilities were required to have met ADA standards for accessibility by January 26, 1992. Non-compliance with the ADA can be a costly liability, since the Department of Justice can enforce the Act's requirements through lawsuits, by levying penalties, and by other remedies.

GaiaTech provides ADA consulting services to help our clients comply with ADA. Our services include construction drawing review, facility surveys, cost estimates, prioritization planning, and remedial design. Our typical ADA compliance assessment addresses the following elements:

• Exterior Route Accessibility
• Interior Route Accessibility
• Parking Accessibility
• Curb ramps
• Entrances
• Ramps
• Bathrooms
• Stairs
• Drinking fountains

• Elevators
• Platform lifts
• Doors
• Alarms
• Signage
• Public telephones
• Seating and tables
• Automatic teller machines

Our project experience has included virtually all types of commercial and public facilities including office buildings, industrial parks, strip shopping centers, regional shopping malls, gas station and convenience stores, health clubs, and hotels.
