GaiaTech's Phase II environmental site investigations are designed and implemented by geologists and hydro-geologists with extensive qualifications in field investigation and remediation. Our geoscience investigation group works closely with the assessment and engineering groups to investigate identified areas of concern.

Our professionals understand Federal State and local regulatory requirements, work frequently with regulators, and are familiar with the full range of environmental techniques, equipment, and analytical methods. We also have experience in a broad array of approaches to sub-surface and groundwater investigations, including:

  • Geological investigations — Determining local and regional stratigraphy, and geologic and paleo-environmental evaluation

  • Vadose zone investigations — Boring and soil sampling, soil gas surveys, vapor extraction system pilots, and full-scale testing

  • Geophysical investigations — Magnetic, electromagnetic, and seismic reflection and refraction techniques

  • Aquifer characterization — Well installations, slug tests, groundwater flow-direction and flow-rate measurements, single- and multi-well pump tests

  • Computer modeling — Predicting and monitoring groundwater and plume migration rates, and the effectiveness of capture zones through time

  • Statistical analysis — Developing clean-up objectives with statistical methods and background chemical information

  • Remedial design — Remediating contaminated vadose zone and groundwater

GaiaTech has successfully developed and implemented numerous assessment and monitoring plans approved by Federal and State agencies, covering a wide range of applications and site conditions, including RCRA Groundwater Quality Assessment Plans, Groundwater Monitoring Plans, Extent of Contamination Surveys, Voluntary Clean-up Work Plans, and Sampling and Analysis Plans.
